Fish Camp is located at 5,000 feet in the Sugar Pine forest of the Sierra Nevada mountains of California, surrounded by National Forest and two miles from the south entrance to Yosemite National Park.
Originally homesteaded as a community for loggers, it is now a quiet village of about 150 cabins. A general store, post office, service station and full service hotel are all within walking distance. Food service is available at the store, Tenaya Lodge, White Chief Lodge and Narrow Gauge Inn. Horseback and historic railroad rides are within two miles.
Strolling through the wooded streets and roads is a favorite pastime as well as mountain bike riding on the many miles of Forest Service roads adjoining the village. Big creek, which runs through Fish Camp is stocked regularly with trout. Three mountain golf courses are within a few minutes drive. Wildlife sightings include deer, beaver, coyote, quail and many species of birds. All the splendor of Yosemite is close by, starting with the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias just six miles away. |
