Turk and the T-Birds

We need your help

While we don't expect to break even at an air show, we'd also rather not loose our shirts so we ask for a little help from air show organizers. Listed below are the "customary" accommodations and assistance we've received at past air shows.

  • Fuel: Usually, we get topped off upon arrival and prior to departure. The flight of four burns about 60 GPH in air show-type flying. Our normal time for a demo is 20 - 25 minutes. As stated previously, we are most often scheduled at the beginning of the show because of our airspeed (or lack thereof).

  • Lodging: We normally need 4 rooms for 8 adults (pilots and wives). Although we're instrument rated, the airplanes are not. If we are not scheduled so that we can reach home base before sunset, we may have to stay an extra night. PLEASE, don't ask us to share bathrooms with anyone other than performing aircrews. This request is aimed primarily at military bases - we almost had to cancel a flight when one of our crew was locked out of the bathroom.

  • Food: We only ask for whatever is being furnished other performing aircrews.

  • Transportation: If everything (food, lodging and the flight line) isn't within walking distance, we'd like two vehicles to share among the eight of us.

  • Smoke Oil: Each plane has a capacity of 2 gallons of Smoke Oil. We just about deplete this on a 20 - 25 minute flight and would like it replaced before we leave. There may be a rare occasion when we need to be topped off prior to the performance (if, for example, we use smoke on arrival).

  • Engine Oil: We use about one quart per airplane per performance
