MADERA COUNTY EMERGENCY
ACTION
VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

_______________________________________________________
|
Since the September 2001 attack on the
USA it has become more apparent that as a community we need to be
prepared for any emergency and ready to act in response to, and recovery
from, any type of disaster. Madera County is not considered a high
priority for such a terrorist attack, however we are vulnerable to
various natural disasters. In consequence the Madera County Sheriffs
Department and the Office of Emergency Services in conjunction with all
first responder agencies and the Oakhurst Chamber of Commerce want to
develop a volunteers register for Eastern Madera County in an effort to
have those volunteers assist in any emergency situation. The volunteers we are looking for are
those willing to help our community in times of crisis, whether it is
assisting your neighbors or first responder agencies. We would encourage
any person to volunteer in a general sense or to offer any particular
skills you have learnt and to use them for the benefit of our community.
Eastern Madera County has a wealth of persons with “life skills”
from all sections of our population who would be invaluable should
disaster strike. All such registered volunteers will receive some basic training in emergency management skills, and how the structure of emergency planning, procedures, and protocols are administered together with the opportunity take part in “mock disasters” and other training courses. We look forward to your participation in our program, and to be welcomed as a member of a team who will jointly make our small community a safer place in which to live and work. ___________________________________________ |
