1968. Basic training was Fort Poke La. AIT Fort Gordon Ga. After finishing AIT assigned to the 140th MP Company Fort Gordon. Assigned to the First Battalion Seventh Cavalry March 23, 1966 till March 23 1967 as a rifleman in the 3rd squad 2nd platoon B Company 1/7 Cav First Cavalry Division (Airmobile). After 9 and ½ months in the field was assigned as S-4 (supply rep) for B Company 1/7 Cav till tour of duty over. Assigned to Company F 41st Infantry Fort Ord Calif and last job in the Army was running a beer bar at Fort Hunter Liggett Calif.
Awards from the service; Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Two awards of the Air Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze service stars (campaign battle stars), Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960 device, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation Award (3rd award), Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation Badge.
