Tobias Peak Fire Lookout


Tobias Lookout was built in 1935 and manned in 1936. Tobias has been, since it's inception a United States Forest Service, Sequoia National Forest, Hot Springs District Lookout. Located in Township 24S, Range 32E, Section 7. It is of wood frame construction and sits on a rock base. Tobias looks over the SanJuaquin Valley and has visability to Mt.Whitney as well as the Kaweahs (Great Western Divide), the west face of the Kern Plateau and the Golden Trout Wilderness as well as a view of the Paiutes and the Scoddie Mountains and a small part of the Kern River Valley.



Needles Peak Fire Lookout


Needles Lookout is located on high granite "Needles". A favorite for Rock Climbers, in Township 21 S, Range 32 E, Section 13 of the Sequoia National Forest, Tulle River District.



Mule Peak Fire Lookout


Mule Peak Lookout was built in 1935 and is wood frame construction. Mule Peak is located in Township 22 S, Range 31 E, Section 15. A National Forest Service Lookout it is also supplemented by BIA as the tower looks over the Tulle Indian Reservation. Mule Peak is a part of the Sequoia National Forest, Hot Springs District.



Jordan Peak Fire Lookout


Jordan Lookout is located in Township 20 S, Range 31 E, Section 15 and is in the Sequoia National Forest, Tulle River District.



Breckenridge Peak Fire Lookout


Breckenridge Lookout is located in the Sequoia National Forest, Greenhorn District, in Township 28 S, Range 32 E, Section 31. Breckenridge lookouts also man a patrol in the early morning hours and have continually been of great help to the BLM and Kern County Fire Fighters.



Bald Mountain Fire Lookout


Bald Mountain Lookout was built in the 60's and all material was still hauled in by Mule Train. Located in the Sequoia National Forest, Cannell Ranger District, Township 22 S, Range 34 E, Section 12, it is also used for BLM and Inyo Forest Fire Traffic.



Buck Rock Fire Lookout


Buck Rock Lookout is located in the Sequoia National Forest, Hume Lake Ranger District, Township 14 S, Range 29 E, Section 6, at an elevation of 8,500 feet.



Delilah Fire Lookout


Delilah Lookout is located in the Hume District of the Sequoia National Forest in Township 13 S., Range 26 E., Section 11 at an elevation of 5,156 feet. Delilah is not in operation continuously at this time, but is used when fire danger is very high. The original lookout was built pre 1916 with the tower built in 1924 with a cabin below and replaced in 1959 and in 1967 with a steel tower from Lemore Naval AFB.



Baker Point Fire Lookout


Baker Point Lookout is located in the Hot Springs District of the Sequoia National Forest in Township 24 S., Range 32 E., Section 10 and overlooks the Upper Kern River Canyon to the east as well as the west face of the Kern Plateau and to the west multiple drainages of the Bull Run Basin and north east slopes of the Greenhorn range. Baker is non operational at this time, except it is still used as an important repeater location for canyon traffic, Cannel District traffic, Hot Springs traffic, Tulle District traffic and Greenhorn traffic for the forest and law enforcement communications. The trail to Baker is over grown and has several dead falls across it and is rough to follow, but the view in the canyon is spectacular for those who manage the trek.
