The Apollo Missions were man's first major leap to another world. They were a series of 17 missions of trial and error that brought America to the Moon. They brought tears of joy, as demonstrated in Apollo 9, when all the necessary equipment to reach the Moon was sucessfully tested assuring a safe flight. As well as tears of mourning as experienced in Apollo 1, when three brave astronauts were trapped inside their blazing cockpit as it caught fire before it could lift off. But with all these emotions came the greatest feeling of all, the feeling of victory, which was felt by every American when Neil Armstrong first touched down on the vast, unexplored regions of the Moon. And the Apollo Missions were what proved that possible, that is, clearly achieving a goal which was a giant leap for mankind.
