Creating with clay is an experience of wonder. To watch the clay take a shape that it has never had before always delights me. The clay forms itself within my hands and becomes something else. This is magic. Each ball of clay becomes a unique and never repeated object.

Some of this work is finished with glazes; Some of it is finished with stains or artists paints; And I use various firing methods according to whim and desired results.

I usually indicate if the piece will not hold water, and I usually indicate when a piece is intended to be used with food. In any case, I make my own glazes and can assure you that they contain no known toxic ingredients, EVER, and may be used however you see fit.

Since I have fun creating these objects, I hope that the buyer will have fun using them. The intent is to give visual pleasure.

About the Artist

Hazel Robinson is an artist through and through. She creates beautiful drawings and paintings and some of the most inventive pottery works found anywhere.

She is also prolific, with works on display in homes and businesses throughout the west. She works in a home studio complete with outdoor kilns, and is well known for her work in "clay noodles" in which strips of clay are carefully laid atop each other to form exquisitely symmetrical pieces.

At the same time, Hazel turns out artistic asymmetrical works such as those seen in the gallery. It is her innate curiosity about what her hands can form that brings vibrancy and continuity to all her varied works.
