GENERAL SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the inspection of outside plant facilities and other various activities associated with outside plant quality control services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assist Construction Inspection Specialist with all assigned outside contractor work order projects.
- Provide a high level of quality control for construction jobs.
- Visit construction job sites daily to review project and ensure construction and RUS standards are being met.
- Inspect construction sites daily to ensure that jobs are progressing satisfactorily and that safety procedures are being followed.
- Coordinate work with city, county, state or federal officials.
- Maintain daily, weekly and final work order inspection records.
- Monitor and verify outside plant inventory used by Contractors.
- Coordinate and verify the testing of newly placed infrastructure.
- Document all changes to project designs made during the construction phase and incorporate into the as-built records.
- Complete as-built inventory of plant facilities associated with each project and provide updates to as-built sheets and construction maps.
- Verify splicing has been completed in an accurate manner and that the network is ready for customer cutover, as applicable to each work order.
- Utilize as-built sheets and maps to generate final unit tabulations for each project and reconcile final construction cost for project.
- Review sequentials data with contractor daily, and coordinate weekly approval and sign off by both Contractor and Inspector.
- Ensure material slips and reels that are no longer needed are being returned to the warehouse at a minimum of weekly.
- Ensure conduit is placed in pedestals according to Company’s conditions.
- Execute change orders, as required.
- Provide and maintain data input to the Project Management Database for work order management, scheduling, and monitoring progress of assigned construction projects. Includes loading the system with Project Information, adding required information for Project scheduling, updating consumable product Sequential Usage/Installation, and creating reports for management review.
- Interact directly and professionally with customers and local and outside agency representatives.
- Work through customer complaints in the best interest of the Company while simultaneously resolving the issue with the utmost satisfaction to the Customer.
- Facilitate a positive working environment.
- Regular and predictable on-site attendance is an essential function of the job.
OTHER RELATED JOB FUNCTIONS
- Frequently visit construction sites during the workday to monitor quality and efficiency of work, safe work practices, and customer relations.
- Perform other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) desirable.
- Five years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Experience in Outside Plant Construction Operations is preferred.
- Solid knowledge and hands-on practice with RUS procedures is desirable.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Must have a valid Class C California driver’s license with a minimum of three years of driving experience.
- Driving experience must have occurred after having passed a traffic laws and signs test.
- If relocating to California from another state or country, must have, at a minimum, a valid driver’s license issued by the home state equivalent to a California Class C. The employee will be required to obtain a California driver’s license within ten days.
- Must be insurable via the Company’s standard auto insurance policy procedures.
