OUTSIDE PLANT COORDINATOR

REPORTS TO: Outside Plant Engineering Supervisor
LOCATION: Oakhurst
HOURS: Full-time work schedule; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position may be required to work overtime as needed.
DEADLINE: Open until filled
POSITIONS TO BE FILLED: One
STARTING PAY: $21.00 to $28.00 per hour, depending on experience.

GENERAL SUMMARY

This position is responsible for acting as custodian for all correspondence, documents, line extensions, and work orders, including all federal, state, and local government transactions received or released by the Engineering Department.  This position also answers the primary telephone, taking messages, or directing calls to others when anyone is out of the office.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Correlate work orders and associated correspondence between both homeowners and government agencies, and engineer and applicants; correspondence may include letters, applications, and forms distributed to several government agencies or private parties regarding property owner notifications, county road, and/or state highway permits.
  • Maintain, daily, physical and electronic records regarding work orders (open and closed), line extensions, and department schedules; file records when done.
  • Process and monitor contracts between the Company and other utilities.
  • Process and monitor purchase requisitions for department needs, including office supplies.
  • Attend and take minutes at weekly department meetings and forward minutes to the department.
  • Monitor work orders to identify those ready for release, and be prepared to provide all documents and information at the work order meeting.
  • Process property owner letters with copies of work sketches for Right of Way agents.
  • Regular and predictable on-site attendance is an essential function of the job.

OTHER RELATED JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Perform other duties as needed.
  • Serve as backup for line assignment tasks, including processing service orders, updating circuit records, and coordinating with field technicians to ensure accurate and timely assignments during peak demand or staff absences.
  • Assist the Construction Department with filing for State and County Road permits and traffic control plans.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) is desirable.
  • Four years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Must have a valid Class C California driver’s license with a minimum of three years of driving experience.
    • Driving experience must have occurred after having passed a traffic laws and signs test.
    • If relocating to California from another state or country, must have, at a minimum, a valid driver’s license issued by the home state equivalent to a California Class C. The employee will be required to obtain a California driver’s license within ten days.
    • Must be insurable via Sierra Tel’s standard auto insurance policy procedures.

    • Proficiently use software programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as basic Internet operations.
    • Perform basic math calculations.

    • Plan and organize multiple tasks under deadline pressure.
