PURCHASING AND SUPPLY AGENT

HOURS:Full-time work schedule: 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position may be required to work overtime, including weekends and evenings as needed.

GENERAL SUMMARY

This position is responsible for locating and developing sources for materials and parts, including substitute and contingency sources, and maintaining mutually profitable relationships with suppliers.  The position is also responsible to support Warehouse operations, develop consistent purchasing procedures and methods for interfacing with other departments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Work with Engineering Department to perform research and development of new products, equipment, and materials.
  • Prepare purchase orders from requisitions received from e-mails.
  • Prepare and process bids and quotes for purchases.
  • Efficiently process walk-up requests and formal purchase requisitions for materials and supplies.
  • Receive incoming freight and parcels and distribute to the appropriate departments.
  • Operate a forklift as needed to safely load and unload cable and conduit reels and other materials.
  • Process daily receipts and accurately maintain electronic purchase records.
  • Track and follow up on all backordered items.
  • Assign Inventory to work orders with material assignment slips and return to the requestor in a timely manner.
  • Accurately check out and track all equipment.
  • Ensure that storeroom stock tracking sheets are completed accurately.
  • Perform monthly cycle inventory counts.
  • Maintain stock levels in the warehouse and yard. Prepare replenishment orders as needed.
  • Maintain warehouse and storerooms in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Regular and predictable on-site attendance is an essential function of the job.

OTHER RELATED JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide all departments with information and procedures regarding purchasing and supply requests.
  • Maintain inventory, receiving, and distribution for affiliate companies.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) is desirable.
  • Five years of related purchasing and warehousing experience preferred but not required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Must have a valid Class C California driver’s license with a minimum of three years of driving experience.
    • Driving experience must have occurred after having passed a traffic laws and signs test.
    • If relocating to California from another state or country, must have, at a minimum, a valid driver’s license issued by the home state equivalent to a California Class C. The employee will be required to obtain a California driver’s license within ten days.
    • Must be insurable via the Company’s standard auto insurance policy procedures.
    • Must be able to obtain Forklift certification within one year of accepting the position.
